The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan hosted the groundbreaking “Pakistan Digital Leap” event, marking a historic milestone in the country’s journey towards digital transformation in higher education. The event was attended by Vice Chancellors, corporate leaders, and prominent stakeholders from across the education sector who witnessed the unveiling of Pakistan’s most advanced education digitization initiative, the Higher Education Development in Pakistan (HEDP) project, in collaboration with the World Bank.
But what truly set this event apart was its revolutionary use of immersive technologies making it not only a policy milestone but also a technological marvel.
A First in Pakistan: Hosted by a Hologram
In a breathtaking moment, the Chairman of HEC, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, appeared as a life-size holographic avatar, hosting the entire event. For the first time in Pakistan’s history that an event of this scale was hosted entirely by a hologram. The massive 3D holographic projection, the largest ever in the country, captivated the audience and symbolized Pakistan’s bold step into the future of smart events and digital leadership.
This tech-powered hosting experience, completely free from a traditional human anchor, amazed the audience and set a new benchmark for innovation in public sector events.
Immersive Visual Experiences: A Fusion of AI, MR & Projection Art
The event was designed and executed by Ventured Knowmads as a fully tech-integrated experience. A stunning 3D illumination projection mapping display, by the projection mapping expert company 3dillumination, covered an expansive canvas, narrating HEC’s digital journey through breathtaking visuals. High-end AI-generated content and dynamic motion graphics enhanced the storytelling, leaving the audience awe-inspired.
Adding to the visual showcase were next-generation interactive installations by MovingStone Digital including:
- 3D Illuminated VR Pods
- Knowmad Verse (MR Booth) for multisensory mixed reality experiences
- 3D Eye AI Photobooth that blended AI, vision tracking, and personalized photography
Each installation invited guests to immerse themselves in the kind of tech-forward thinking that HEDP aims to bring to universities across the nation.
Crafted by Ventured Knowmads – Pioneers of Visual Tech
This first-of-its-kind event was conceptualized and executed by Ventured Knowmads, a leading visual technology and experience design firm. From the holographic hosting to immersive projection environments and AI-powered installations, Ventured Knowmads delivered a seamless fusion of creativity and innovation.

A Visionary Leap Through HEDP
The “Pakistan Digital Leap” event unveiled the core components of HEC’s ambitious digital roadmap, including Astrolabes Data Centers, As-Sadeem Cloud, Al-Meissa HPC, Maktab ERP-SLCS, Al-Fihri LMS, Jidar Network Security, and Smart Classrooms; each an essential pillar in transforming how higher education operates in the digital age.
These systems, enabled through HEDP, have already touched the lives of 6 million students and are being rolled out in 25 pilot HEIs across the country, with overwhelming success. They offer scalable models for digitizing public sector universities and bridging the gap between Pakistani and globally ranked institutions.
As part of the project, HEC has also established:
- 7000 km of optical fibre connectivity
- 20,000 Wi-Fi access points across 96 HEIs
- A full ecosystem of digital tools to improve access, reduce operational costs, and modernize pedagogy

At this landmark event, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Chairman HEC, remarked:
